Sync on the Brink
Dual pulses,
Chasing each other’s echoes,
Competing impulses,
Piercing their hearts like arrows,
Conflicting voices,
Eyes screaming the unsung,
Endless choices,
Bodies yearning to taste the sun,
Silencing rejoices,
To savor what’s lost,
Dueling vices,
An irresistible all-consuming cost,
Losing control,
Heat dancing between tongues,
Questioning souls,
“Do I love…”
“You…?”
“Why’s my heart beating to the brink?”
“Why can’t I outrun your heart’s sync?”
“Fighting the rhythm of the rink…”
“Warring feelings as I drown and sink…”
“What I would give…”
“What I would’ve given…”
“To wipe off that smile…”
“To hear your voice go wild…”
“As my heart’s sync is on the brink.”
In Sync
Dual hearts,
A symphony all their own,
Hearts unchained,
No longer pulsing alone,
Muscles loosened,
Limbs entwining freely,
Scars caressed,
Shedding away cold finality,
Heated bodies,
Melting fear’s icy grip,
Nerves soothed,
Savoring every pulsating sip,
Tears kissed,
“The salt of my Earth,”
Eyes unburdened,
“The sun of my galaxy,”
Undying rivalry,
Unstoppable together,
Forever unrivaled,
As our hearts,
Eternal in sync,
“I…love…you…too.”
From Phoenix:
It is a small collection of poetry that contains two parts inspired by my new favorite show that has hijacked my heart for the past month named Heated Rivalry. My two poems explore the brilliantly written romantic gay relationship between Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, who are the two main protagonists of the show, in stages with the first poem portraying the conflicted beginnings of their relationship and the second poem expressing their love truly coming to fruition in emotional intimacy and in this case symbolized in their heart beats becoming in sync with each other in the end.
