May 12th: Spectra Becoming by Aundre

“In Spectra of Becoming, I show how ideas from our course, especially blackbody radiation, light spectra, and the relationship between energy and wavelength, can be used as creative tools rather than only scientific ones. The gradient inside the human silhouette is inspired by blackbody curves, where objects emit different wavelengths based on temperature, and the shift from red to white represents growth, increasing energy, and how learning changes the mind. The orbit-like lines and wave patterns around the figure reflect our discussions of light acting as both a wave and a particle, which I connect to how people move through life in different ways, sometimes steady and sometimes unpredictable. Small scientific symbols, such as peak wavelength notation and the Planck relation, connect the artwork directly to what we studied.”
